Description

The last "grand display" (L:10+) aurora event of cycle #23 seen from here - on Dec. 14, 2006. The view to the east-southeast with constellation Taurus at the left side of the picture (Pleiades inclusive) and the tail of the Whale (Cetus) at the right side. When will the next display reach such proportions at my location (46.8 N & 101.8 W.)? Makes you wonder how that house on the distant hill beyond the quonset is really getting its power supply.

This is a really beautiful photo. It has a gorgeous colour composition, the red and complimenting the green perfectly.

Depending on how you look at it, the buildings in the bottom can be either a good thing or a not-so-good thing.

From the positive point of view; having the buildings there in the foreground shows that the beauty of nature can still exist as one with progress-- too deep?
From a negative point of view, it slightly takes away from the spellbinding beauty of the "big red tide." Spoiling what would otherwise be a perfectly beautiful photo of the sky.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I personally see it in the positive way.
I think this shot would make an attractive book cover or poster.
Great work. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
