Rural Night Glory

Description

A picture with no magnification in walking distance at my location of the starry rural night sky very ironically repelled / shut out by bad outdoor lighting. Shouldn't this subject be any small town's next best asset aside from the land or it's people? This view is to my southeast in a mid-November morning. The brightest star in the top-center of the image is Sirius, which spends 9 hrs & 20 minutes above my local horizon. It is 8.6 light yrs away and actually 21 times brighter than our Sun. Look also at the brightest orangish star just above the hills near the horizon. That's Pi Puppis, a giant almost 1100 light years away and over 6300 times brighter than our Sun. Indeed, Canis Major is beautiful here. Vivid! Viola! Can you believe that Sirius was just 1/9th as bright 330,000 yrs ago (and much more north) as we see it today? In very rural places, the dark / starry night is your friend, the stars being the eyes of God.
