Venus and Scorpius

My rural location provides an everlasting view of a beautiful sky - something the city leaders put a thumbs down to, once (1996), and should rethink. Here is brilliant planet Venus, its light enhanced by a special effect "star" filter, hovering above constellation Scorpio to its right. The asterism's brightest and reddish star of Antares is also in view - 604 light years away and just over 10,000 times brighter than our Sun. It rises here at my location just 10 minutes after supergiant Betelgeuse of mighty Orion has set. When this picture was taken, Venus was scurrying ahead of us along its smaller orbit about the Sun. So, who's scared of the dark?
