Decoration of Orion

A view to the southeast of a "grand" display aurora just 5 minutes into Nov. 21, 2003. Orion is completely immersed in the awesome event, red and green in color; constellation Taurus is in the top right corner, while Sirius is the bright star just above one of the grain storage tanks. It is kind of sad that these great nocturnal events will become a thing of the past for the continental USA (and me) later this century, as the Sun will trend more quiescent and the magnetic pole shifts fast toward northern Russia.
